Our story

Some things shouldn't be modernised.

Taste is one of them. Every masala we make follows the same logic Konkan households have followed for generations: use what's real, use it while it's fresh, and never reach for a shortcut just because it's available.

Where it began

A home kitchen on the Konkan coast

Long before KonkanAroma had a name, it had a kitchen — one where masalas were sun-dried on the terrace, ground on stone, and given away to neighbours who kept asking for more. There was no plan to sell anything. There was only a recipe worth sharing.

When we finally did turn it into a small business, we made one decision early and never revisited it: the recipe would not change to suit a factory. The factory, if there ever was one, would have to suit the recipe.

Turmeric root and powder, a core Konkan spice

From Konkan soil to your kitchen

How freshness actually gets made

1

Sourced from known farms

Chillies, kokum, coconut, and turmeric are sourced from growers we know personally along the Konkan belt — not from anonymous bulk markets.

2

Sun-dried, not chemically dried

We dry ingredients the slow way — under the sun, on open terraces — because heat-forcing changes flavour, and we're not willing to trade flavour for speed.

3

Stone-ground in small batches

Small batches mean every batch is ground close to the day it's dispatched — never sitting in a warehouse waiting to be ordered.

4

Hand-packed and checked

Each pack is sealed by hand, and checked for colour, aroma, and texture before it goes anywhere near a delivery box.

5

Straight to your door

No middle warehouse, no long shelf wait. From our packing table to your kitchen, as directly as we can manage.

What we won't compromise on

Three lines we don't cross

01

No preservatives

If it needs a preservative to survive on a shelf, we make less of it, more often — not the other way around.

02

No artificial colours

The deep red of our chilli masala and the gold of our turmeric come from the spice — nothing is added to make them look "better".

03

No artificial flavours

If a flavour tastes stronger than the ingredient list explains, we consider that a warning sign, not a selling point.

This is the whole promise.

Not a marketing line — a description of exactly what's in the pack. If you'd like to know more about a specific product before ordering, we're one message away.
